ON DAY-4 of the Covid-19 pandemic Movement Control Order, eight deaths have been reported nationwide, and authorities are bracing for the unexpected.

Ministry of Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said on Saturday two additional Covid-19 deaths were individuals who attended the Seri Petaling gathering.
Earlier Saturday, six deaths were reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre.

Medical authorities have reiterated their appeal to those who attended the gathering to come forward for Covid-19 testing.

Authorities have established some 15,000 attended the gathering at the mosque in Seri Petaling between February 25 and March 1, and to date more than 50 per cent have come forward on their own accord.

It was learnt that majority of those who turned up at the gathering were either those with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee (UNHCR) cards or undocumented foreigners.

There were 153 Covid-19 cases reported Saturday bringing the total to 1,183. These include medical and police personnel.

On Sunday, Malaysians who were air flown from Iran are scheduled to arrive and would be transferred to a monitoring centre for further health checks.
