KUALA LUMPUR: National Press Club Malaysia (NPC) president Datuk Ahirudin Attan retained his position as president after winning it uncontested during the club’s annual general meeting (AGM) on March 26, 2025.
Ahirudin announced that this will be his last term (2025-2027) leading the nation’s oldest journalism organisation.
Additionally, the elections resulted in the re-election of the club’s deputy president Haresh Deol (Twentytwo13) and vice president Farah Naz Karim (New Straits Times).
“This will be my last term, and it is time for the younger journalists to take over. We have good people such as Haresh, Farah, and Sharanjit Singh (New Straits Times), to name a few.
“This year, we plan to organise an Asean NPC forum in conjunction with Malaysia’s chairmanship of Asean. The Foreign Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan, is keen on the idea,” Ahirudin said.
