The National Press Club (NPC) Malaysia hosted Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia, HE Vanu Gopala Menon, for his inaugural visit to the clubhouse.
Accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Shivakumar Nair and embassy staff, the visit also served as a gathering point for Malaysia’s media leadership. Representatives from the National Union of Journalists Malaysia, the Malaysia Press Institute, and the Malaysia Media Council were all in attendance to welcome the delegation.
NPC President Datuk Ahirudin Attan commended Mr. Vanu for acting as a “bridge” between the two nations. He noted that the High Commissioner’s presence also played a pivotal role in cementing solidarity among Malaysia’s major media associations.
“We hope to host Mr. Vanu and his team at the club again in the near future,” added Datuk Ahirudin.
Speaking on Singapore-Malaysia relations, Mr. Vanu expressed high optimism, citing several high-impact initiatives expected to yield tangible results this year. Key projects mentioned include:
- The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ): Aimed at boosting regional trade and investment.
- The Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link: A critical infrastructure project set to transform cross-border connectivity.
The evening concluded with a shared commitment to maintaining the close-knit ties that define the unique relationship between the two neighbours.
