Jom Jalan with NPC 2025, held on Nov 29, 2025 at Padang Merbok, Kuala Lumpur attracted some 420 participants from all walks.

The event brought together seasoned athletes, casual walkers, families and schoolchildren for a morning aimed at promoting health, fitness and community spirit.

Participants took part in either the 10km competitive walk or the 5km fun walk, with the longer race featuring categories for Open Men, Open Women, Boys and Girls aged 13-17, and Veterans aged 40 and above.

Organised by the National Press Club (NPC) Malaysia and supported by the Federal Territories Athletics Association (FTAA), the event started at 6.30am. The field included journalists, members of the public, sports enthusiasts and those simply eager for a brisk start to the weekend.

Sporting personalities added star power to the event, among them Olympian racewalkers Anastasia Karen Raj and Yuan Yufang, Olympian and Malaysia Olympian Association president Noraseela Khalid, and former national walkers Shahrulhaizy Abdul Rahman and Narinder Singh.

Adding more colour to the morning were 20 children from Incredible Warrior, comprising special-needs children who participated with their parents – many beaming proudly as they crossed the finish line.

Supporters and sponsors of Jom Jalan with NPC 2025 included Malaysia Airports Holding Berhad, Prasarana, Prince Court Medical Centre, F&N, Nestlé-Milo and Gardenia.

NPC president Datuk Ahirudin Attan said the event was not only about bonding and camaraderie but also an opportunity to spot emerging talent, especially among young racewalkers still finding their rhythm.

“Jom Jalan with NPC 2025 provided an excellent platform for race walkers, particularly schoolchildren, to test their capabilities,” said Ahirudin.

“The weather was perfect, and everyone had fun. This is the second edition, and we are delighted to see more walkers this year, including many schoolchildren and young kids.”

He added that NPC aims to make next year’s edition even bigger.
