MEDIA practitioners can heave a sigh of relief as they will soon receive their Covid-19 vaccinations.

In lauding the recent announcement by Khairy Jamaluddin, National Press Club Malaysia deputy president Haresh Deol said this augurs well for the fraternity.

“It would safeguard media personnel on the ground as they continue to keep their readers and viewers informed and updated.

“Close to 6,000 media personnel would finally get their vaccines and this is great news indeed,” the deputy president’s statement read.

“This was also a recognition for the industry, that the government, specifically Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry, Health Ministry, Communications and Multimedia Ministry – understands and appreciates the work carried out by media personnel.”

“We hope more people, including the elders and those from other industries receive their vaccinations in a bid to achieve herd immunity.”

On Wednesday, the Coordinating Minister of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin announced media personnel would get their shots in their near future, after numerous calls to acknowledge media practitioners to be frontliners due to their nature of profession when in the line of duty.
